I've loved drawing since I was a wee lad. I have memories that stretch back as far as I can remember - sitting with a pencil and paper, doodling something. I have been very fortunate throughout my life in regards to my art. I have loving parents who always encouraged and supported my desire to be an artist. This is something that I think directly contributed to a more serious pursuit of it later in my life.

I received a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art, with an emphasis in Drawing, in 2009 from Kansas State University. During the years I was in school, I also studied art at institutions in Anchorage Alaska, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Prague. In this aspect of my life, I have been fortunate as well - studying under many different teachers/professors/artists in different parts of the world.

I lived in Kansas City Missouri and Lawrence Kansas for a couple years after college. I would participate in local art exhibits in galleries and at coffee shops and frame shops and restaurants and online competitions - anything I could get in to. I would sell a painting here and a drawing there. I also worked full time at an art gallery/custom frame shop. It was fun.

In 2011 I moved to San Francisco to be with my woman, and to attend The Academy of Art University for my Masters in Painting. I lasted until halfway through the second semester, when I decided to drop out. Sometimes I wonder what direction my art would've gone in if I had stuck with the program. In terms of academical techniques I learned probably just as much, if not more, during the months I was at that school, then I did in my entire Undergrad. There were so many things about all of it that I couldn't get on board with, though...so, I decided to save myself $100,000.00 in student loans, take what I learned, and peace out.

That was circa 2012, and I had just won an online poster design contest for Electric Forest. I had been involved in 'the scene' for a few years at this point; having gone to countless shows and many festivals. However, it wasn't until I made that poster that I started going by a different moniker. The contest called for a username, so I decided to create an abbreviated conglomeration of my first and middle names : A(Lex)ander (New)ton (Tho)mas. The birth of Lex Newtho.

It's been a wild ride these last few years. Those of you who have watched it all unfold know what I'm talking about. I personally would not want to have had it any other way. Not only have I been fortunate enough to have been able to live a life that allows me to continue my pursuit of art - uninterruptedly - but I have been fortunate enough to have been able to do that alongside a family of friends and likeminded peers. It's been my pleasure getting to know as many people as possible, after having reached them somehow with some piece of my art. I genuinely feel that I live a blessed life, and I can't thank everyone involved in it enough. I love you all.

It is my mission to create and spread as much love through my art as I can in this life. I believe it's important for so many reasons.
