First of all, I’d like to wish my beautiful wife, Amanda Pearl Hull, a very happy birthday. FOR her birthday, we have decided to release the third “Rainbow Kitty” …in honor of her love for all felines.
It was around this time, last year, when we had to deal with the terribly sad experience of losing our outdoor kitty, Bianca. When that was happening we released the second “Rainbow Kitty” and we used the proceeds to help pay for her treatment. That was a difficult time, but all of the love and support everyone showed and offered was such a heartwarming experience. We thank you very much.
I’m happy to report that, currently, we don’t have anything going on with our cats QUITE so serious as that was. However, our oldest cat, Mija, was recently diagnosed with asthma. A few months ago, Mija had a scary emergency situation when Amanda noticed she was breathing very irregularly and wasn’t able to really even move. Upon arriving at the emergency vet, they determined that she was in need of emergency care, and she was placed into an oxygen chamber for over 24 hours. After some extensive testing they determined that she has asthma and that she would need to temporarily be on oral steroids, and then ultimately be on inhaled steroids…daily.
She has taken to her inhaler treatment relatively “easily.” It did take a lot of time and training on our part, and hers, to get her to the point where she’s comfortable with it…but, now that we’re there, it’s a breeze. After the Bianca situation, we got all of our cats Pet Insurance. Thankfully it helped with Mija’s emergency visit, which lead to the discovery of her asthma…but, of course, these trips ain’t cheap!
We’ve been planning on getting her a dental cleaning. Her gums and teeth need some help. Because of her asthma, we want to take her to a specialist dentist, who takes extra precautions with cats like Mija, when placing them under anesthesia. Dentals happen to NOT be covered by her insurance, as it is considered a preexisting condition.
We really love the idea of releasing a “Rainbow Kitty” each year to help supplement the “KItty Health Fund” for our pride of 6 little fur babies.
Please rest assured knowing that you’re contributing to the well-being of our furry little family, and we greatly appreciate it. All proceeds from this will go directly to paying for Mija’s dental and if it goes above and beyond that, then any extra will go into the K.H.F (Kitty Health Fund) to be used for future care and treatment.
